WRITING WITHIN PSYCHOLOGY
Though different than the writing practices minor, I also wrote during my psychology courses. Below are a couple of examples.
PSYC 3050: CHILD PSYCHOPATHOLOGY
Though this psychology course did not involve an extensive amount of writing, we did spend the quarter reading accounts and memoirs of child abuse and therapist mental health evaluations of children.

For this final project, we were assigned to watch a film about mental health and evaluate the protagonist.
The film I chose was To The Bone, staring Lilly Collins. I researched her previous eating disorder before watching the film and felt this would be an interesting protagonist to analyze anorexia.
Assignment Description:
The goal of this assignment is to demonstrate your ability to integrate information about child psychopathology theory and specific DSM-5 disorder criteria, as well as think critically about portrayals of mental health in the media. For this assignment, you will select a fictional character that depicts psychopathology in a movie from a list on the third page of the assignment instructions and grading rubric below; you may not choose a character from a movie other than those already provided.

PSYC 3080: DRUGS AND BEHAVIOR
In this course, we learned about psychopharmacology.

We read a book by David Sheff, author of Beautiful Boy, that deeply and graphicly recounts his struggles with his son's addiction.
For my final project, we were assigned to write a research review of a current topic in psychopharmacology.

I chose the relationship between CBD and Epilepsy because my roommate at the time was severely epileptic and used CBD to relieve her symptoms. This was more research-based and anayltical in comparison to my previous writing in college.
Assignment Description:
For your final writing assignment, you’ll write a review article about a current topic related to psychopharmacology. A review article is meant to highlight a current question in the field, review the published literature, and offer the author’s viewpoint on the state of research relating to the question. Your paper should summarize 3 research articles about your topic, and use these articles as the scientific basis for your analysis. Begin your review with an appropriate introduction to the topic and an explanation for why it is relevant. Each research article should be summarized in a way that would be understandable to someone who had not read the article (similar to what you’ve done in your summary of the Martinez et al., 2019 article). Be sure to address what specifically was being asked, how the question was addressed, and what the key results were). To conclude, offer an analysis of the collective findings. What do they tell us, in combination, about the topic?
