Capstone Course
For my capstone course within the writing minor, we are curating a portfolio. One assignment we have done so far was to revise an old paper from a different class in the minor.
I chose to revise a nature memoir from my Green Rhetoric course.
Capstone: Revision Assignment
For this assignment, I was assigned to take a previous assignment from the writing minor and revise it into a new genre. I chose to take a memoir about the beach I wrote winter quarter junior year and revise it into a travel blog. The beach I wrote about is meaningful and nostalgic, so I thought it would be an interesting transition!
Green Rhetoric:
Nature Memoir
For this assignment, we were assigned to compose a memoir that explores an event or experience that is connected to nature from your past.
"Go beyond describing events; make sense of them for readers and/or connect them to broader ideas or themes. The course readings offer many examples of the nature memoir, which as we’ll see, is rather broad as a genre."
