1) What is the theme of your portfolio? Why?

The theme of my portfolio is professional with a touch of personal. I want it to give the reader/viewer a sense of who I am, because of my creativity and interest in design/media/marketing but see a professional side of me as well.

2) What are the connections between the pieces you have picked for your portfolio?

A lot of my pieces are creative because that is my favorite writing style and feel it more closely represents who I am as a person, as opposed to academic papers. Some of the creative pieces are a memoir about the beach, a fictional story about a small town girl, and a fictional mystery script.

3) How are these connections represented?

Everything I have done throughout my minor is under the writing tab, while my media related projects are under the Media tab. Both tabs gets more specific as you go through the categories.

4) How do you see your portfolio potentially helping your professionally?

I think my portfolio really shows my range as a writer. I have experience in news writing, scriptwriting, academic writing, memoir, and creative writing. It is all very organized, giving the reader access to all of my featured pieces. I'd love to freelance write pop culture and fashion/beauty/travel content in the future, so this portfolio could serve as a way for magazines and hiring managers to see what I have done in college.

5) How does your portfolio help you with your academic learning at DU?

I think that this portfolio will allow me to look back at old work, see what works and what doesn't, and improve upon old pieces. It also shows me how far I've come as a writer!
